Ascend
Documents for every quiz and course
Ascend's menu → Documents shows what every Quick Quiz in the project is written from, in one place. Each quiz is a row you open to see its files; there is no limit on how many files a quiz can have, and the page is built for long lists.
What each file shows
| Type and size | The kind of file and how big it is. |
|---|---|
| Status | Ready (read, and usable), Being read (uploaded a moment ago; documents take a minute or two), Could not be read, or No readable text (for example a scanned image with no text yet). Only a document with text can be used to write questions. |
| In Data Management | Which folder the file lives in. Linked means it lives elsewhere in the project and is used here without being copied or moved. |
| Cited by | How many of the quiz's questions were written from it. Not cited means no question comes from it yet. |
Changed on a file means it has been read again since the questions citing it were written — for example a newer version was uploaded in its place. Press Review questions to check they still match.
Adding files
| Add from Data Management | Opens the quiz's document list, grouped by Data Management folder, with a search box and Only ticked. Tick what the quiz should use and press Save. |
|---|---|
| Upload | Choose files from your computer. They go into Data Management, in a folder of their own — Ascend › quiz name — and are assigned to the quiz straight away. A document can be used once it has been read. |
Remove takes a file off the quiz. The file stays in Data Management.
Finding things in a long list
Search looks through every quiz's files at once, and only quizzes with a match stay on screen. The filters narrow by type, by status (including Changed since its questions), and to files no question cites. A quiz with more than eight files shows the first eight, with Show all.
Uploaded files are stored with the rest of Data Management and count toward the account's storage. Data Management
