Importing from Google Drive

If your material lives in Google Docs, you do not have to download it and upload it again. Beside ⬇ Upload files there is Import from Google Drive.

Connecting, once

The first time, you sign in to Google and grant read-only access. The hub never gets permission to change or delete anything in your Drive, and it only reads the files you tick. You can disconnect at any time, which revokes the access at Google as well as forgetting it here.

Google Docs become Word, Sheets become Excel

A Google Doc, Sheet or Slide deck is not a file in the ordinary sense — there is nothing to download. They are converted on the way in: a Doc arrives as .docx, a Sheet as .xlsx, a deck as .pptx. The list tells you what each one will become before you import it. After that they are read exactly like anything else you upload, so they are searchable and available to the AI.

What cannot come across

Google Forms, Sites, My Maps and shortcuts have no document behind them, so they are shown greyed out with the reason beside them rather than quietly skipped. Each file can be up to 16 MB; for a larger one, download it and use ⬆ Upload files. If you import twelve files and ten arrive, the summary names the two that did not and why.

It lands where you are. Files import into the folder you were looking at, the same one the Upload button would have filled.
