Chat & Research

Comments and review

Pin comments to the exact spot on a prototype, talk them through in threads, and assign them to teammates. Comments are shared with everyone in your account who can open the project.

Start reviewing

Click Comments in the top bar of Chat & Research. The review toolbar appears on the preview and the Messages list opens on the right; a Message mode banner shows every pin. Press Esc, or click Comments again, to finish.

From a project's Prototypes page you can also go straight in: click a prototype to open its review page — full width, with comments beside it — or choose Comments from its ⋮ menu.

  1. Pick 💬 Comment in the toolbar and click the spot you mean. A numbered pin marks it.
  2. Type your note and click Post, or press Cmd/Ctrl+Enter.
  3. Click a pin to open its thread. Drag a pin to move it.

Pins stay on the element they were dropped on as the page scrolls or resizes.

Threads

Open a pin to reply, to Resolve it (or reopen it), and to assign it under Assigned to. The Messages list counts open and resolved comments, filters by All, Open, Mine and Resolved, and jumps to a pin when you click its row.

You hear about it, by email and by the 🔔 in the toolbar, when a comment is assigned to you, or someone replies to or resolves yours.

Before a prototype is published

You can comment and draw on a prototype you have not published yet. Until it is published, those comments and drawings are kept in your browser, with the prototype's tab: another tab shows only its own, and nobody else sees them. When you publish the prototype, they move onto it and are shared like any other comment. Closing the tab without publishing leaves them behind.

Draw on it

✎ Pen draws freehand and ▭ Box draws a rectangle, in the colour you pick. 🗑 clears your own drawings and keeps the comments. 👁 hides or shows everything, and ⌄ tucks the toolbar away.

Comments follow the page. In a prototype with several pages, each page has its own pins and threads. Browsing a multi-page prototype
