What the preview does not show
The preview is close to the exported file, but not identical. When something in the video will not come out as the editor shows it, the strip under the top bar names the layer and the reason — read it before you wait for an export.
- Rounded corners are editor-only. A picture’s Corner radius shows in the preview; the exported file has square corners.
- Other shapes are crops. Positions and sizes are fractions of the frame, so a video laid out at 9:16 and exported at 1:1 or 16:9 is cropped differently. Check the other shapes and expect to nudge captions.
- The narration is a stand-in. The preview voice is your browser’s; the file uses the real voice. Sound & voiceover
- Hidden tracks are left out of the file as well as the preview, scenes included: a hidden Video track leaves the scenes black, a hidden Text track leaves out the scenes’ own words. Captions have their own switch.
- Explode or Burst in on a shape reads as a simple scale: a block of one colour has no pieces to throw.
When in doubt, export a Web-friendly copy and watch that. It is the quickest way to see the real thing.
