Erasing a contact

When someone asks you to delete what you hold about them, erase them. Erasing is permanent. For everyday tidying use Archive, which Restore undoes.

How

  1. Open the contact. You must be an account owner or admin.
  2. Press Erase… at the foot of the left column.
  3. Type the person's name, or their email address, to confirm.
  4. Press Erase for good.

What goes

  • The record and its fields, notes, tasks, activity, addresses and phone numbers; its shares and project links; their meeting invitations.
  • Thrive's copy of every email with them, in everyone's Inbox in the account, at any of their addresses.
  • Outreach and courses sent to them.
  • Mentions of them on other records — a line of a deal's activity, a row of an import's problem file — are blanked.

What stays

Deals stay, without the person on them. Events stay, without them as a guest. Your mailboxes are not touched — Thrive removes only its own copy. A lead they came from in a project's Lead Generation is not erased: delete it there too.

Keeping them out

Keep only their email address, on do-not-contact is ticked by default. Thrive keeps nothing but that address, marked do-not-contact, and adds it to Lead Generation's suppression list, so the next mail sync or search cannot bring them back and the address cannot be added again. Untick it and nothing about them is left.

If they later ask to hear from you again, open the placeholder — Erased contact, seen only by owners and admins — press Remove the block…, type the address, and press Remove the block. The placeholder goes, and so does the suppression the erasure added.

Thrive's log records that a contact was erased and how many emails went — never who.
