Ascend
Insights: how people are doing
Insights shows how people are doing across your Quick Quizzes and courses, and where a quiz or course needs work. Open Ascend in any project, choose All projects & learning paths at the bottom of its menu, then Insights.
Insights names people and their scores, so it follows the same rule as results. Account owners and admins see every quiz and course in the projects they can open; anyone else sees only the ones they created. Who can see results
The overview
Each quiz and course is listed with how many people have taken it, its Average, and whether any of its tests Needs adjusting. Open shows the detail.
Team readiness
For the people a quiz or course is assigned to: how many have Completed it, are In progress, have Not started, or are Overdue (past their due date without finishing). Ready is the share who have finished.
Module by module
For a course, each module's assessment and the final exam; for a quiz, the quiz itself. Each shows:
| People | Everyone who has taken it, including people who took it from your public profile. How many of them are on your team is shown alongside. |
|---|---|
| Average | The average of each person's best score. |
| Pass rate | The share of people who have passed it. |
| First try | The share who passed on their first attempt. |
| Time taken | How long the typical person took, against about a minute a question. Slow means more than twice that; Rushed means less than a quarter. |
A test is marked Needs adjusting, with the reason, once at least three people have taken it and fewer than half pass it, or most people need more than one attempt. Once at least five people have taken it and everyone scores almost full marks, it's marked as possibly too easy to tell who really knows the material.
Hardest questions
The questions people most often get wrong, at their best attempt, with the share who got each one right. A question almost nobody gets right is usually worded unclearly, or asks something the lessons don't cover. A question appears here once at least three people have answered it.
Skills by person
Everyone on your team who is assigned the quiz or course, or has started it, with their status and their best score on each test. ✓ means passed, and Placed out means the placement check passed them. People who took it from your public profile are counted in the numbers above, but aren't listed here.
Ascend's view
Once someone has taken a quiz or course, Ascend can help you read its results:
| Assess this course | A short written review: a headline, what is going well, what needs work, and what to do next. It's written only from the aggregate numbers, with no names. |
|---|---|
| Suggest improvements | Up to five proposals under Ascend suggests. Ascend can propose a clearer version of a question people keep getting wrong, written from the course's documents and shown beside the current one. It can also propose a different pass mark for a test, or a note, such as a lesson that needs more on a topic. Nothing changes until you press Apply. For a note, press Mark as done, or press Dismiss to ignore it. A rewritten question keeps its place, and results people already have keep their scores. |
| Ask about these results | Questions in plain words, such as "Who is furthest behind, and on which module?" Answers can name people, because you can already see their results. On the overview, Ask about all of these answers across everything you can see, without names. |
Every figure Ascend states must appear in the results, and the numbers it writes are checked against them. A sentence that quotes a figure the results don't hold is left out. An answer the results can't support is replaced with a note that it can only answer from what's shown. Each of these uses AI credit from your account.
