Video Studio

Saving, exporting & publishing

Every change you make is kept as you work; the badge beside the video’s name says Saved, Saving… or Not saved (or View only for someone below Publisher, who can watch a video but not change it). The buttons at the top do three other things:

SaveSaves the video in Data Management, in a folder you choose, so your team can find it. Press it again to move it to another folder.
⇩ Export videoMakes the finished MP4 files.
↗ Publish to profileShows this video on your public profile, where anyone with the link can watch it.

Saving to Data Management

Press Save. The dialog shows Saving to with the project and the folder you have chosen. Pick a folder, or Top level of the project; + New folder in makes a folder inside the one selected. Give the video a Name and press Save. The video appears in that folder straight away, and its MP4 appears there when an export finishes. If you exported the video before saving it, the MP4 already made moves into that folder with it, under the name you gave. The message after saving links to the folder.

Previewing the real video

▶ Preview, beside ⇩ Export video, makes the real video small and fast and plays it in a window, usually within a couple of minutes. It is exactly what the export will be, at a lower resolution, so it is the way to check the finished picture and sound before you export. Anything not yet saved is saved first. A preview is not saved in Data Management and does not count as an export. If this version is already being exported, or has been, the preview plays that file rather than making another one.

Exporting

  1. Press ⇩ Export video.
  2. Tick the shapes you want: 9:16 (stories, Reels, TikTok), 1:1 (feed posts), 16:9 (YouTube, a website, a deck).
  3. Tick Web-friendly as well if you want a half-size copy with a much smaller file — the one to put on a page or in an email.
  4. Press Export.

The Export dialog says where the files will go: beside the video in Data Management, or at the top level if the video is not saved yet (press Save first to choose a folder).

The strip under the top bar shows which stage each file is on. You can keep editing: the export is of the version you asked for. When the files are ready, the strip and the message say which Data Management folder each one is in (or that it is at the top level), with a link that opens it, and the button becomes ⇩ Download. Exporting something that is already made says so rather than making it again, and pressing Export again while an export is on its way does not start a second one.

Exporting takes a few minutes. A 30-second video is usually ready in a few minutes; a long one with many captions and effects takes longer, because every caption and effect is drawn properly. It is not stuck. Use ▶ Preview to check it first.

If a picture or effect will not come out the way the editor shows it, the strip lists it before you wait for the file — see What the preview does not show.

Publishing to your profile

↗ Publish to profile shows this video on your public profile, where anyone with the link can watch it, in the Videos section. It opens a dialog that says so; press Publish to profile there to go ahead. Once published the button reads ✓ Public; press it to take the video down. Until the video has been exported the button is greyed out and says Export the video first, because what is published is the finished file.

A visitor sees the video only when your profile is public, the project is published, and the video is published. If one of the first two is missing, the message after you publish says which.

Say that it is AI-generated. The exported file carries no AI label, and rules such as Article 50 of the EU AI Act require AI-generated video to be disclosed. The publish dialog reminds you; add the disclosure yourself wherever you post the video.

Captions and transcript

Captions adds a captions file (.vtt) — paste it or upload it. It is shown as captions on the public player and as a transcript beneath it, and it lets people find the video by what is said in it.
