Persona Simulations

Running a simulation

Persona Simulations → ✨ New simulation. Fill in the form yourself, or describe your question and let Suggest setup fill it in for you to check.

Start from a question

Type what you want to find out in What do you want to find out? — for example "Will price-sensitive shoppers accept a 10% price increase?" — and click ✨ Suggest setup. It fills in the name, the number of personas, a cohort and the scenario below, all of which you can change. It uses a little AI credit, shown in your usage as Persona simulation setup.

Fill in the run

  1. Name the simulation so you can find it later.
  2. Set Personas: how many synthetic people answer. More give steadier numbers and cost more.
  3. Choose the Environment: Survey (personas answer questions) or Chatbot (personas talk to Odin).
  4. Choose the Target. For a survey: Just the scenario, This project's documents, or one of the project's prototypes, which the personas then judge. For a chatbot, the target is Odin, answering from this project's documents.
  5. Choose the Cohort: a saved cohort from the list, or narrow a new one by region, age, language, economic motivation, trust and tech savviness. Leave the filters empty for a random cross-section. Preview cohort says how many personas match. Cohorts and metrics
  6. Tick any Metrics to score each persona on. Cohorts and metrics
  7. Write What should the personas evaluate? For a survey, the scenario or question each persona answers; for a chatbot, what each persona is trying to do.
  8. Check the estimated cost under the form, then click Run simulation.

The run appears in the list as Queued straight away; you don't have to wait on the form.

What it costs

The estimate under the form is the most the run can cost, including any metrics you ticked. It is set aside from your account's balance when the run starts. When the run finishes, you are charged for what it actually used, and the rest is released; a run that fails, that you cancel, or that does not start within an hour is not charged. A chatbot run costs more than a survey of the same size, because every persona holds a conversation. Runs appear in your usage as Persona simulation run.

If it will not start

This run is too large: it would cost about $…A single run has a size limit. Use fewer personas or fewer metrics.

Running a simulation needs the publisher role or above.Only owners, admins and publishers can run simulations. Ask one of them, or ask for the Publisher role.
A chatbot run talks to Odin, the project's assistant.A prototype is judged in a survey, not talked to. Choose Survey to have personas evaluate it.
Speak instead of typing. The boxes here that the AI reads have a microphone beside them: press it, talk, and pause; the text lands in the box for you to check. Speaking instead of typing
