Billing & credit

Who can see and manage billing

Billing is the one part of the account that being an admin does not include. The owner gives billing access to the admins who need it.

The ownerAlways. Nothing to switch on.
An adminOnly if the owner has ticked billing access on that person’s row in Team & members. Without it an admin can do everything else in the Account section and will not see Billing at all.
Everyone elseNo. A member or publisher has no Account item in the avatar menu. Their Home page shows the account's shared balance, and if they open an Account page from a link, it says the page is for owners and admins. Your dashboard

When you cannot add credit yourself

Anyone who cannot add credit (a member, a publisher, or an admin without billing access) is told who can. The Account card on Home, and every message that says the account is out of credit, name the account owner to ask, by the name on their profile. There is no link to Billing, because Billing would not open for you.

Granting it

Go to Account → Team & members and tick billing access next to an admin. The checkbox only appears if you are the owner, and only on rows for people who are admins.

Only the owner can grant it. An admin cannot give billing access to themselves or to another admin.

Plans

On a plan account, the same people (the owner, and admins with billing access) are the ones who can Change plan and open Subscription & invoices on Billing. Inviting people is for owners and admins as before, but an invitation cannot take the account past its plan. See Plans and the free trial.

Good to know

  • Taking it away takes effect at once — not the next time that person signs in.
  • Changing someone’s role clears it. If a billing admin becomes a member and is later made an admin again, billing access is not restored automatically; the owner grants it again.
