Skunk Works

The backlog and sprints

Skunk Works → Backlog is where you plan. The sprints that have not finished are listed first, each in its own group, and the backlog sits under them: everything not in a sprint yet, in order. The top of the backlog is what the team picks up next.

Create an item

  1. Click + Create an item at the bottom of the backlog, or at the bottom of a sprint to put it straight into that sprint.
  2. Type a title and press Enter.

The item is created as a Task. Open it to change its type and fill in the rest. See Items and epics.

Rank and plan

  • Drag an item by its handle (⋮⋮) to move it up or down, or into another sprint or back to the backlog.
  • ▲ ▼ move an item one place up or down.
  • The list at the end of each row shows where the item is (Backlog, or a sprint) and moves it: choose another sprint or the backlog. Use it on a touch screen or with a keyboard, where dragging does not work.

Sprints

  1. Click + Create sprint above the backlog. It is named Sprint 1, Sprint 2 and so on.
  2. Click Edit on the sprint to give it a name, dates and a goal.
  3. Put items in it.
  4. Click Start sprint. Its items appear on the board. A sprint started before its planned start date starts today, in your timezone.

Only one sprint runs at a time. Each sprint's header shows its dates, how many items it holds, and how many of its points are done.

When the sprint is over, click Complete sprint on its header and choose where its unfinished items go: the Backlog, or another sprint that has not finished. The items that are done stay recorded in the sprint they were done in.

Remove takes away a sprint that has not started. Its items go back to the backlog.
