Skunk Works

What is Skunk Works

Skunk Works is where a project's team plans and tracks its work: a backlog of everything to do, sprints that hold the work for the next week or two, and a board for the sprint that is running. Open a project and choose Skunk Works under Manage in the apps menu.

> Skunk Works is in beta. Everything in these articles works, and it is still being improved.

Its places

Skunk Works has its own menu down the left of the project:

SummaryHow the work is going: what is open, created and closed this week, how long things take to close, the running sprint's progress, and what needs attention (urgent work nobody owns, overdue items). Open, its breakdowns by type, priority and person, and Needs attention count work items; epics are the plan and are tracked on the Schedule.
BacklogThe open sprints, each in its own group, with the backlog under them. Plan here: create items, drag them into sprints, and start and complete sprints. See The backlog and sprints.
BoardThe sprint that is running, in four columns: To Do, In Progress, In Review and Done. See The board.
ScheduleThe plan for the project's epics: their order of priority, and a timeline from each one's start to its target date. See The schedule.
SettingsThe project's key prefix and its labels. See Skunk Works settings.

Back to project at the top of the menu returns to the project.

Items and keys

Each piece of work is an item: a Story, a Task, a Bug or an Epic (a larger goal that groups other items). Every item has a key made of the project's prefix and a number, such as WR-12. Click an item anywhere to open it. See Items and epics.

Items link to the project's documents in Data Management, and each document lists the items that link to it. See Documents from Data Management.

The ✨ buttons are AI: drafting items from a sentence, breaking down epics, planning sprints to the team's pace, and summarising where things stand. The AI proposes; nothing is saved until you accept it. See AI in Skunk Works.

Who can do what

Everyone who can open the project can do everything in Skunk Works: create and change items, plan and run sprints, set the schedule, comment, attach images, and change its settings. That is the account's owners and admins, the project's owner, and the people added to the project in its Users section. Someone on a read-only plan can look but not change anything.

People are emailed when an item is assigned to them, when someone comments on their item or mentions them, and when it is due tomorrow or overdue. See Skunk Works emails.
