Skunk Works
Items and epics
Click an item in the backlog, a list or on the board to open it in a panel on the right. Where it is at the top moves it: Backlog, To Do, In Progress, In Review or Done. Close window closes the panel.

| Title | Edit it at the top of the panel. |
|---|---|
| Type | Story (something a person will be able to do), Task, Bug or Epic. |
| Priority | Low, Medium, High or Critical. |
| Assignee | Who is doing it. Anyone who can open the project can be assigned, and is emailed when an item is assigned to them. |
| Points | An estimate of the size of the work, a whole number from 0 to 100. A sprint adds up its items' points, so you can see how much work it holds and how much is done. |
| Due date | When it is needed. An unfinished item past its date is shown as overdue, and Summary lists it under Overdue. An epic has Starts and Target date instead, which place it on the schedule. |
| Sprint | The sprint it is in, or the backlog. |
| Epic | The epic it belongs to. |
| Labels | The project's labels that apply to it. Click a label to add or remove it. Labels are set up in Settings. |
Description is under the fields. Click Edit description to change it, and Save. The bar above the text has bold, italic, underline, bulleted and numbered lists, a link and code. To show a screenshot in the description, paste it straight into the text (⌘V on a Mac, Ctrl+V on Windows), drop the image file into the text, or click + Image. Text you paste from elsewhere arrives as plain text. Type / to link a Data Management document or another item, and @ to mention someone: see Documents from Data Management.
Images
Besides the images in the description, you can attach screenshots, mockups or photos to an item under Images:
- Click Attach images and choose one or more files.
- Or paste a screenshot while the item is open (⌘V on a Mac, Ctrl+V on Windows).
- Or drop image files on the box under the images.
Images can be PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP, up to 5 MB each, and an item can carry up to 20. Location data that phones store in a photo is removed when it is uploaded. Click an image to open it full size, and × to remove it. Everyone in the project can see an item's images. From Data Management and Save to Data Management move images between the item and the project's Data Management: see Documents from Data Management.
Comments and history
Activity starts with the comment box, then lists everything that happened to the item, newest first: who created it, moved it, changed a field and commented. Write your comment, with the same formatting bar as the description, and paste or drop screenshots straight into it; then click Add comment. Everyone in the project sees comments. The item's assignee and the person who created it are emailed that you commented, but the email does not include what you wrote. Type @ to mention someone, and / to link a document or another item.
Epics
An epic is a larger goal that groups other items, such as "Checkout redesign".
- Create one: choose Epics above the backlog list and use + Create an epic, or set an item's Type to Epic.
- Open an item that is part of it and choose the epic in its Epic field.
An epic's panel lists its items and how many are done. Epics stay out of sprints: the items in an epic go into sprints, and the epic follows their progress. An epic cannot belong to another epic.
