Mercato

Sell on your website

Mercato → Sales channels. A website sells this store through its store key: the website shows your catalog, prices its cart here, and sends buyers to a checkout page to pay. Prices, stock and payments stay in Mercato. Any website you list can use it.

Add a website

  1. Choose Add a website (owners and admins).
  2. Give it a Name and list its address, for example https://www.pawsandgo.com, one per line. https://*.example.com covers every address under example.com.
  3. Choose Save, then Copy the store key for the website.

The key only works from the websites listed for it. It is public (it is in the website's pages): it can show the catalog and start a checkout, nothing more. If you stop using a website, Revoke its key.

A key named after a website with (online store) was made for you when that online store was built in VeraGen. It lists the site's name.veragen.app address, and it also works in the site's previews. Every build of that site reuses it. If you revoke it, the site stops selling until someone presses Save in the site's Settings, which makes a new key.

What the website can do

  • Show the catalog: active products with what is available, services that can be booked, and subscription plans. Drafts and archived items are never shown.
  • Price a cart. Every price, discount, delivery charge and tax is worked out by Mercato; a price sent by a website is ignored. The discount code and delivery option given to the cart carry into its checkout.
  • Check out: the items are held for 30 minutes while the buyer pays on the checkout page, so the last one cannot be sold twice. If the buyer does not pay, they are let go.
  • Book a service, and start a subscription.

Online payment needs Stripe connected (Payouts & payments).

When someone buys

The payment makes the order: it appears in Orders, paid, with its stock taken, and the buyer is added to Thrive and emailed a receipt. Someone who gave their email at checkout and left without paying is an abandoned checkout, which Tellagent can follow up an hour later: see Messages and automations.
