Mercato
Subscriptions
Mercato → Subscriptions. A plan is something customers pay for again and again, such as "Weekday walks, $175.00 every week". Each period is an ordinary invoice, numbered and kept with the customer's history, and paid one of two ways: charged to the card they saved, or emailed to them to pay.

| Paid by card | The customer is emailed a link to their subscription's page, where they save a card on Stripe's own form. The first payment is taken then (after any free trial), and each period after that on its day. Card details go to Stripe, never to you or to VeraGen. |
|---|---|
| Paid by invoice | Each period's invoice is emailed with its pay link, and is due on your payment terms. |
Customers can also subscribe on your website: see Sell on your website.
When a card is declined
The subscription shows Payment failed. The customer is emailed a link to update their card, and Mercato tries again after each of your retry days (Settings → Subscriptions). After the last try, the subscription is cancelled (or paused, if you chose that). When the customer saves a new card, it is charged straight away.
While it waits, its Next payment is the next try. Its unpaid invoice gets no invoice reminders and is not reported overdue: the update-your-card emails are what the customer hears, and the Overview lists it once, as a failed payment. Payouts & payments shows the declined charge as Declined, not as money in.
Changing a subscription
- Pause… stops payments until a date you choose, or until you choose Resume.
- Change plan… moves them to another plan at the next renewal.
- Cancel… ends it at the end of the period they have paid for, or now.
- Customers cancel from their own link; it runs to the end of the period they paid for.
The top of the page shows your recurring revenue a month (active subscriptions, as monthly amounts), how many are active or on trial, how many payments failed, and how many ended in the last 30 days.
